Donation
At WEKA, we believe that everyone deserves access to mental health support, no matter their financial situation. That’s why WEKA courses are entirely free. Whether someone is struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, or simply trying to navigate a difficult chapter in life, they can come to us without fear of financial burden. We open our doors to those who need us most—and we do it with compassion, confidentiality, and care.
While it’s true that we receive government funding, the reality is that these funds only cover a portion of our costs. Running quality counselling services, offering courses, training volunteers, maintaining safe and welcoming spaces, and reaching out to vulnerable people all require resources that go beyond what state funding can provide. In truth, we rely on support from our community to keep doing the work we do.
When you choose to donate to WEKA, you're not just giving money—you're giving someone hope. You're giving them a lifeline. You're saying to someone who might be at their lowest point: You are not alone. Help is here. Every dollar, every gesture of support, plays a role in helping us keep our services accessible, our courses open, and our support consistent.
All of our work is made possible by donors—people like you who believe that mental health support should be a right, not a privilege. Your contribution helps us provide counselling sessions, develop new educational programmes, and train more volunteers to meet rising demand. And as mental health needs continue to grow, especially in uncertain times, so too does our need for sustainable support.
Donating to WEKA means being part of something deeply human. It means standing with people in their darkest moments and helping them move toward the light. Whether you choose to give a one-time donation or support us regularly, you’re making an investment in the emotional wellbeing of Dunedin.
And rest assured: any donations will always be appreciated! We treat every contribution with the care and respect it deserves, using it responsibly to further our mission.
So please—if you believe in mental health, in free access to care, in the power of community, consider supporting WEKA today. Together, we can make sure no one has to face their struggles alone. Together, we can keep the doors open and the lights on for those who need it most.
